The legendary 80s band Depeche Mode have announced a new album, “Delta Machine”.
It will be their first release since 2009’s “Sounds Of The Universe”, and has been produced by long-term collaborator Ben Hillier and mixed by Flood.
Although their roots are in electronic 80s pop, many metal bands have cited them as a major influence on their work including Deftones, Linkin Park, Fear Factory and Rammstein. Marylin Manson famously covered their song “Personal Jesus” in 2004.
“Writing this album was incredibly daunting as I wanted the sound of this collection to be very modern,” said songwriter Martin Gore. “I want people to feel good about listening to this record, to get some kind of peace. It’s just got something magical about it.”
Singer Dave Gahan added: “With this release we’ve completely shifted our idea of how to create an album… can’t wait for all of our fans to hear it.”
The album will launch on March 26, A deluxe edition will include extra songs and a photobook of the band. They will embark on a 34-date European tour this summer, with a North American tour to follow later this year.
