James Blake to Collaborate With Kendrick Lamar?

James Blake’s new record label 1-800-Dinosaur will be launching in April, and his collaborator for the project Dan Foat recently sat down with Juno Plus to talk about plans for Blake’s forthcoming project, Overgrown out on April 8. 1-800-Dinosaur will be putting out a 12″ for James that features the dub version of “Voyeur” along with a non-album track “And Holy Ghost.” But perhaps the most interesting part of the conversation was when Foat hinted at a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.

“We met Kendrick Lamar and his manager Dave at SXSW and hung out and discussed a potential collaboration with James. If that was to come off then it would be great to release it via 1-800-Dinosaur and their label Top Dawg Entertainment in the States. It’s pure conjecture at the moment though, as everyone is too busy with touring commitments. The TDE setup is inspiring and something I’d like to replicate with 1-800, they’re like a modern day Death Row. It’s a long ball game. I find the whole hand stamped ltd 12″ idea to be about as limited as beards, beanies and tattoos in East London so we won’t be going down that road.“

Needless to say we’d love to see this happen! For now, watch the newly released video for “Voyeur” below and check out the rest of the interview for Foat’s thoughts on working with 1-800-Dinosaur.
