Pianist Daniel Roberts Releases Debut Single

Romford pianist Daniel Roberts has just released his debut single and he has his grandfather to thank for it.

The 25-year-old’s passion for music started when he was just seven. He said: “I remember my grandfather played for pleasure after he came home from work and he is the one that really got me into music. “I enjoyed it and I loved the music and I felt a real buzz from it.”

He added: “I was amazed that something so beautiful could come from something that just looked like a box. “My grandfather died in 2000 but he would have really been pleased that I have continued my music.”

Daniel started taking his first music lessons when he was eight and he says that it “clicked straight away for him”. “I loved having lessons, I really wanted to learn, he said. “I learned quickly and I had a good teacher.”

Daniel, who is also part of the Billericay Operatic Society took his love of music even further when he studied for three years at Leeds College of Music.

Three years ago, Daniel moved with his family from Wales to Romford to try to pursue his dream of a music career.

Daniel’s debut single is called Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini and is based on the classic work by composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. He said: “It is one of my favourite pieces. “I have stayed true to the original piece but I have also made a few changes.”

He added: “The single is quite unique because a lot of musicians just record them in a studio, but mine is from a live performance in concert.”
