Piano Recital Is Destined To Be A Grand Affair

Chester Music Society’s Celebrity Concerts season continues at St Mary’s Centre on Wednesday (November 13) at 7.30pm with a recital by the international pianist Charles Owen.

This is the first solo recital since the society purchased the Steinway concert grand in St Mary’ Centre with support from many members and several organisations in the city.

Charles Owen began his musical studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Seta Tanyel and continued at the Royal College of Music under the guidance of Irina Zaritskaya.

In 1997 he won the prestigious Parkhouse Award in partnership with violinist Katharine Gowers.

He has performed in many of Britain’s leading concert halls including the Barbican, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Internationally, Charles Owen has appeared at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Paris Louvre, the St Petersburg Philharmonic and the Moscow Conservatoire.

The programme includes three Bach Suites interspersed with Charles’ other specialty – French music by Debussy, Faure and Ravel.

Wine and soft drinks are available in the interval. Tickets are £13 from 01244 381 995 or the Visitor Information Centre, Town Hall Square, Chester.
