Classical Pianist Wins Women of the Future Award 2013
Just months after Romania’s first ever female solo pianist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall, Alexandra Dariescu is topping off 2013 with a Women of the Future Award.
Posting on Twitter, RNCM and Guildhall alumna Dariescu said she was over the moon, and described the win as a huge step for women in classical music.
“This evening we celebrated women, equality between genders and an internationally cherished Romania, a country that makes me proud,” she said. “I was the only non Brit in the Arts and Culture category and it gives the hugest of honours to announce that I was awarded the Women of the Future Award, becoming an Ambassador for classical music.
“It’s an exciting time for women all over the world and a huge step for us, strong, united and because we can!”
The Women of the Future awards, now in their eight year, celebrate successful young women in Britain today in a wide range of categories including Technology & Digital, Business and Media.
