Pianist Dimitrije Vasiljevic To Perform At Carnegie Hall

Dimitrije Vasiljevic, a New York-based award-winning pianist and composer of Serbian nationality who is performing extensively in New York City jazz clubs, will have his debut at Carnegie Hall in March 2014.

After releasing his debut album “The Path of Silvan”, consisting entirely of his original compositions, in April 2013, and performing extensively throughout the year, Vasiljevic is getting ready to perform a solo piano concert at Carnegie Hall.

There he will play his own compositions from his new solo piano album “Metaphor”, due out in the middle of the year, and jazz standards in his own arrangements.

I am looking forward to my first solo performance at Carnegie Hall, where I will have the opportunity to present before the New York audience my own vision of modern jazz woven with Balkan motifs and elements of Classical music, Vasiljevic has said.

At Carnegie Hall, the jazz pianist will perform his solo piano composition “Wardenclyffe”, inspired by and dedicated to Nikola Tesla, for which the Philadelphia-based Tesla Science Foundation has presented him with a Tesla Spirit award, citing his effort to introduce the great Serbian scientist and his legacy into the 21st century.

Hailing from Serbia, where he graduated from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, he is also a graduate of the Boston-based Berklee College of Music and the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development where he also worked as an adjunct professor of jazz.

He will begin studies for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Jazz Division of the University of Illinois School of Music in the fall this year.
