Nine-Year-Old Pianist Receives Double Award
Young pianist Olivia Bird has achieved a remarkable double after receiving two awards.
The nine-year-old of Warlingham gained a Distinction in her ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Grade 1 piano exam.
This is in addition to winning her class at this month’s Reigate and Redhill Music Festival, her first-ever music competition.
Her piano teacher Mrs Sheenah Lintott, whose practice is in Leazes Avenue, Chaldon, said: “Olivia is an exceptionally talented student.
“Her natural musical ability and willingness to study hard have brought her these well-deserved successes.
“Only a small percentage of students who enter the ABRSM music exams achieve a Distinction-level pass.
“To then win a music competition at the first attempt with a performance that was simply outstanding makes Olivia an inspiration to all young aspiring musicians.”
