Pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi to Perform in the Midlands

Famous pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi will be performing for one night only on the 19th July at Belbroughton in the Midlands.

The globe-trotting Italian classical musician will be jetting over from Shanghai to perform at Holy Trinity Church for a one-off charity concert – Musica 14.

Organiser Gaye Hadley said: “It’s just brilliant to think he’s coming and he’s not charging us a penny. He’s doing it for the sheer love of being able to perform in a Norman church.”

It will be top pianist’s third visit to the village; he also performed at fundraising concerts Musica 09 and 11 – which were held in the grounds of Church Farm in Bradford Lane.

Antonio, distinguished professor of piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio, will be joined by his wife Emanuela Friscioni, also an accomplished pianist and professor at CIeveland Institute of Music; and their nine-year-old daughter Eleanor Pompa, a cellist, will also be performing.

Gaye added: “It’s going to be the most phenomenal thing.”

Birmingham Conservatoire student Elliot Hinton, aged 19, from Hagley, has also been invited to perform an original piano piece of music at the event which starts at 7pm.

Tickets for Musica 14 cost £35 and include entry to the concert and supper in the church hall afterwards where people can meet the musicians.

College students with proof of identity are invited to attend for a reduced rate of £20.

For tickets call Gaye Hadley on 01562 730539.
