Pianist Benjamin Frith to Play at Three Events

British pianist Benjamin Frith will be playing at three events as part of the Dante Summer Festival which begins today in Tavistock.

Ben will join quartet cellist Richard Jenkinson on Thursday, July 10, in Beethoven’s Cello Sonata in D, Op 102, in Stoke Climsland Church at 7.30pm, in a programme of late Beethoven, featuring the String Quartet in E flat, Op 127, and the Piano Sonata in E, Op 109.

The following evening, at Yelverton Parish Church at 7.30pm, Ben joins the quartet in Elgar’s Piano Quintet, with music by Turina, De Falla, Poulenc and Elgar completing the programme.

On Saturday, July 12 in Theatre 1 in the Roland Levinsky Building at 7.30pm, Ben joins the Ten Tors Orchestra, under conductor Simon Ible, in a special concert as part of Peninsula Arts’ Celebrating Amadeus event, which also includes a screening of the 1984 film about the life of Mozart, on Thursday July 10 in the Jill Craigie Cinema at 7pm.

Ben plays the Piano Concerto in D minor, and the programme opens and closes with Mozart’s symphonies – the first movement from the early G minor one, K 183, and a complete performance of No 29 in A minor respectively.
