Pianist to Perform at Phelps Mansion Series
The Phelps Mansion Museum’s Second Sunday Concert Series will present pianist Mariam Vardzelashvili at 3 p.m. Sunday at 191 Court Street in Binghamton.
Vardzelashvili began her musical education in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she studied at the Z. Paliashvili Music School for Gifted Children and the V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory. Upon completing her master’s degree, Vardzelashvili moved to Paris to study the French school of piano under the guidance of E. Erlendsdottir. Vardzelashvili has been Vienna-based since 2011, where she expanded her chamber repertoire. She has also worked with renown masters of the piano chamber such as C. Schuster and L. Monti.
Vardzelashvili is an award-winning pianist, including competitions such as the F. Chopin Young Musicians Competition in Novi Sad, Serbia, the Gaudeamus Interpretors Competition in Amsterdam, and the Dr. Marjoree Petee Art Song Competition in Bowling Green, Ind.
