Music Education Is The Main Topic At NAMM 2015 Exhibition
Education will take the spotlight at the upcoming 2015 NAMM Show, with education leaders, faculty and music-career seeking students being gathered through events hosted by the NAMM Foundation. High profile figures have been drafted in to headline, these being renowned musician, DJ and composer Moby who will be opening Generation Next on the Thursday. Produced in collaboration with the College Music Society, the event is a NAMM show exclusive educational opportunity for students preparing for careers in the music products industry and music faculty.
Educators are welcome to start Saturday off with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak speaking live via simulcast about innovation in music. Sunday at 9:30 a.m. best-selling author and critically lauded educator and speaker Richard Gerver delivers the Foundation’s Music Education Days keynote address.
A major NAMM Foundation initiative, will be featured at the show. The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH) unveils new NAMM Foundation-funded research on the impact Turnaround Arts programs have had in underperforming schools. Turnaround Artists Chad Smith and Trombone Shorty join PCAH Executive Director Rachel Goslins, on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. in the Foundation Lounge, to share their experiences with Turnaround Arts. On Saturday at 2 p.m., NAMM Foundation-funded Northwestern University researcher Nina Kraus and the National Association for Music Education will be featured on a SupportMusic webcast.
