Korg brings legendary Wavestation synthesizer to mobile

The Wavestation synthesizer went on sale in 1990, and continues to be considered a legendary instrument. Now in 2016, KORG has faithfully reproduced the synth for the mobile era. The iWavestation is available as an app for iPad and iPhone and as well as completely reproducing the programs, it also features a renewed design with touch-based operation and a new graphic interface.

The sound and functionality are taken directly from the Wavestation itself, so now you can obtain the diverse sounds of wave sequencing, inimitable by any other synthesizer, on your iPad/iPhone. In addition to providing the sounds from all PCM memories of the Wavestation, the new iWavestation also reproduces in software every detail of the parameters, based on an analysis of the original hardware circuit diagram. You can pursue a faithfully recreated sound that could never be obtained merely by sampling the original hardware.

This new instrument includes a huge number of pre-sets and waveforms, covering all models of the series: Wavestation, Wavestation EX, Wavestation A/D, and Wavestation SR.

The six option PCM and program cards that were highly acclaimed by users at the time, as well as the KLC card that was newly added with the KORG Legacy Collection, are also included for a total of seven, bringing the total to more than 1,500 pre-set sounds, more than 700 waveforms, and 55 effects, and giving you virtually infinite possibilities for creating sounds. Note that some of these sounds require an in-app purchase.

iWavestation can be used in conjunction with the KORG Gadget music production DAW app and can connect to a MIDI controller and play as an external sound module. The KORG iWavestation is available via iTunes. As well as the iWavestation, KORG has released the Kaossilator for Android.

The iKaossilator app for iOS became a hit when it was released in 2011, and now it’s available for Android. “KORG Kaossilator for Android” is a synthesizer app that lets anyone enjoy full-fledged instrumental performance simply by freely moving their finger across the touch panel.

From electronic sounds to acoustic instruments and drums, you can play a wide range of sounds with a single finger. Also provided is a sequencer that’s indispensable for creating songs, so you can create tracks by recording and layering your performances. The KORG Kaossilator for Android is available from the Google Play Store.
