Shape the lives of young people

The Cultural Learning Alliance (CLA) has published a new report which examines how arts and culture changes and shapes the lives of children and young people. Building on a 2011 CLA report, ImagineNation: the value of cultural learning focuses on four values of cultural learning: social, educational, economic and personal.

The document also includes some of the research findings which emphasise the importance of the arts, such as: participation in structured arts activities can increase cognitive abilities by 17%; learning through arts and culture develops skills and behaviour that lead children to do better in school; employability of students who study arts subjects is higher and they are more likely to stay in employment; and people who participate in the arts are 38% more likely to report good health.

The publication concludes by collating the legislative and regulatory frameworks supporting the place of arts and culture in children’s lives. For more details Click Here:
