Can Piano Teachers Teach Face to Face Now?

From 2nd December the Department for Health and Social Care has published guidance for piano teachers on what will be permitted under all three tiers of coronavirus restrictions. Piano tutors teaching in their homes, students’ homes and studios are permitted where this supports formal education (e.g. preparing for formal qualifications, or a sustained programme of learning).

We have seen nothing to suggest that adults are excluded from the exemption for education and training. We have not yet seen any guidance on group activities for adult learners but we are seeking clarification on this.

Any piano teaching in private homes is subject to all relevant Government guidance, including on working in homes and out-of-school provision. Appropriate risk assessments should also be in place – (e.g. face masks must be worn at all times, hand sanitiser to be used before and after lessons and distances of 2 meters plus to be adhered to).

All guidance from the Government can be found HERE.
