Covid Omicron Government Guidance For Piano Teachers For 2022
Covid – Omicron guidance has been issued from the UK Government for piano teachers. The Government’s advise for out-of-school settings (covering piano and keyboard tuition) states that face-to-face activities can be offered to all children. Music and piano teachers should ensure that their studios and activities are risked-assessed and Covid-secure, following the Government’s contingency framework and guidance on working in other people’s homes where necessary.
We are not aware of any plans to reintroduce social distancing rules, but piano teachers may wish to prepare themselves for the possibility of this, or for students who do not wish to or cannot attend face-to-face lessons.
Face coverings are no longer recommended in piano teaching situations, both for teachers and pupils. Self-employed teachers should be able to stipulate their own policy on face coverings. Private teachers who wish to continue using face coverings should discuss this with parents and pupils.
There is no limit on piano lesson group size, either indoors or outdoors. However, Covid-secure measures, such as good hygiene and ventilation, are still required in your piano teaching room.
